Vice President : Marketing and Communications

Mpho heads the overall communication and marketing division of Takalani Foundation. His passion for media and communication started while he was still in high school where he was involved with Univen FM as a programme producer. He presented radio shows on Wits Campus radio station (Vow FM) and he was also part of team of writes for Wits newsletter – Vuvuzela. As a professional voice over artist, he is also a voice behind big brands in South Africa, particularly for public and commercial radio stations. He has worked for a number of mainstream institutions in South Africa: namely, the University of Witwatersrand, tutoring undergraduate students; Government Communication and Information System responsible for content development; South African Broadcasting Corporation, producing and presenting programmes; National Parliament of RSA responsible for Hansard Reporting; and Musina Local Municipality responsible for communications and publicity.

He acquired his high school education at Luphai Secondary School – about fifteen kilometres west of Thohoyandou – and passed grade 12 with full matriculation exemption. He holds the following academic qualifications: BA in Media Studies and African Languages (Wits), B Tech in Journalism (CPUT), and BA (Hons) in Linguistics (Wits). He is currently completing a Master of Journalism degree with Stellenbosch University.

He also possesses leadership skills acquired from his role as a President of Wits students’ organisation – Maitazwitoma in 2005 and 2006 consecutively.
