Rendani Mamphiswana


Rendani is the Founder and President of Takalani Foundation responsible for leading the team towards the realization of the vision. Rendani leads a core team of 20 volunteers, who are professionals and students. Since inception in 2015, Takalani Foundation’s initiatives have reached over 1000 learners in four of the nine provinces of South Africa.  During his tenure at Takalani Foundation, Rendani started a network of Non Profit Organization leaders, to foster collaboration, sharing of lessons learnt and support new entries. Rendani subsequently started a blog to share leadership insights to a broader audience. Rendani brings extensive professional expertise to social development space, his strong problem solving and organization skills are proving a good fit to realize an almost lost dream of South African intelligentsias’ active contribution to the national agenda.

Rendani is also an Assistant Technology Manager at Sasol responsible for technology strategy and leading new process technology initiatives aligned to business objectives. He leads a team of Scientists and Engineers in delivery of suitable technology solutions for Sasol’s proprietary Fischer Tropsch technology. He joined Sasol in 2009 after completing his undergraduate studies in Chemical Engineering. Since joining Sasol, Rendani has worked in Capital projects aligned to Sasol’s growth plans in South Africa. In the projects, Rendani provides Process Engineering knowhow and expertise to ensure that the process design intent is achieved along the project track. As part of his further training and development, he was seconded in 2012 for 12 months to Foster Wheeler, an international Engineering and Construction company based in Reading, United Kingdom.

Rendani is a part time Masters of Engineering, Technology Management student at the Graduate School of Technology Management, University of Pretoria. Rendani holds a BEng Hons Technology Management (2015) and a BSc in Chemical Engineering (2008) from University of Pretoria and University of Witwatersrand respectively. Rendani is passionate about innovation and the possibility of applying innovation principles to create Afrocentric socioeconomic models. His view is that when the environment is right, life flourishes. It is the task of the leader to create a flourishing environment. . #
